It’s now three weeks since the unprecedented Brexit result, so how is the job market holding up? Surprisingly well, as it happens...

Despite the worries before Brexit, employers have remained undeterred by the referendum result. In the run up to the referendum, 66% of recruiters said they backed the Remain campaign; but despite the unexpected results they have remained optimistic, and it seems to be paying off.

The UK’s job market is remaining resilient.

The number of jobs added to one major job board has risen by 8%, compared to this time last year. Not only that, 83% of companies say they will not be freezing recruitment after the UK’s historic decision.

Some people have even been describing this as a ‘Brexit jobs boost’, with Britain’s employees continuing with business as usual. There has also been an increase in the number of job applications, perhaps thanks to the fact salaries are still growing. In other words, the predicted backlash is yet to have any impact.

The sectors benefiting the most from the post-referendum boost include IT and telecoms, education and sales- all of which are covered by Gregory Martin. As a recruitment agency, Gregory Martin cover a wide range of different sectors, and source candidates from all over Hampshire, Surrey and Berkshire.
