Digital Electronics Engineer – Aerospace, Defence, Electronics, Communication Systems

 

Our client is a highly successful global aerospace company, due to expansion they are looking for a Digital Electronics Engineer with a proven track record of working in an aerospace and defence environment on mixed technology electronic hardware and programmable logic to join their experienced team.  

 

The purpose of the role is the support of widely used existing products and design and development for prototype and pre-production hardware for in-house development projects. Initially, this role has no direct reports although this may change as the business grows. 

 

This role is an opportunity for the role holder to shape and define the electronics function for an ambitious aerospace product development function. 

Responsibilities will include the delivery of design, integration and test hardware and documentation to agreed quality, time and cost. 

The right candidate will be comfortable working as part of a small team and delivering reliable hardware and firmware to a high standard. 

 

As a Digital Electronics Engineer your skills and qualifications will ideally include: 

Essential:

Designing, simulating, implemented and testing VHDL

Analysing, designing and debugging digital hardware

Experience with schematic entry tools

Ability to work as part of a team

Ability to work to tight deadlines

 

Desirable:

Basic understanding of analogue electronics

Some knowledge of embedded software

Strong interpersonal skills

Ability to work under pressure and make business decisions using own initiative 

 

Qualifications and Experience:

Degree Qualified or equivalent in an engineering or science discipline

Experience working in an engineering company, preferably aerospace or defence

Experience designing digital hardware & programmable logic

Competent in all areas of MS Office, including report writing

 

As Digital Electronics Engineer your main responsibilities will involve:

Define and deliver designs activities to requirements and legislative standards (e.g. RTCA DO160, DO 254, RoHs, WEEE, EN9100 rev D)

Establish cooperative team relationships between all internal functions

Responsible for digital hardware project deliverables meeting their quality, cost and delivery schedule targets

Promote an environment of continuous improvement
