Electronics Engineer

 

Our client is looking for a Higher Electronics Engineer responsible for the design, development, and verification of electronic assemblies. The Higher Electronics Engineer will work as a member of the Electronics Systems Group and will be chiefly responsible for supporting the design, development, documentation and verification of electronic assemblies with emphasis on either the analogue or the digital aspects of the design.  The Higher Engineer will operate under modest supervision and tasks will be carried out within the prescribed bounds of schedule, cost and quality with occasional off-bookings for strategic, training or process purposes.  The incumbent will additionally provide support to legacy products already in production and use their judgement to know when to escalate issues. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in the dynamic aerospace industry and contribute to world beating technologies such as digital beam forming for GNSS and communications applications, radio, direction finding and logic translators for the control of antenna systems. This role will be based in Marlow, Buckinghamshire with a very competitive plus bonus and excellent benefits.

 

As a Higher Electronics Engineer your skills and qualifications will ideally include a mix of: 

  • Development of PC and/or embedded software.

  • C programming.

  • Algorithm simulation/analysis using Matlab (or similar).

  • Circuit simulation using LT Spice (or similar).

  • Signal processing (analogue and digital).

  • RF systems (filters, amplifiers etc.).

  • Programmable Logic Devices (FPGAs, CPLDs).

  • Power supply design (switching topologies and architectures).

  • High speed digital design.

  • Low-noise analogue circuitry.

  • Requirements management (DOORS).

  • Issue tracking.

  • Product Lifecycle Management.

  • Require clearance to handle Government Classified Materials.

 

As a Higher Electronics Engineer your key responsibilities will include: 

  • Full lifecycle design and development of high integrity electronic products for the aerospace market including;

              - Concept definition.

              - Modelling and simulation.

              - Requirements definition.

              - Schematic capture.

              - Prototype testing.

              - Production transition.

 

              - Customer support.

  • Work closely with other team members on complex product development projects.

  • Provide information to facilitate the generation of technical proposals, bid plans and estimates.

  • Deliver project tasks to schedule, cost and quality while adhering to internal processes and best practice.

  • Be able to clearly communicate technical issues to the wider project team.

  • Write project reports describing results and recommending next steps, prepare presentations and templates.

  • Be able to mentor interns or student engineers.

  • Support strategic or process initiatives as required.

  • Have an innovative approach to design and the ability to present new ideas to the rest of the team.

  • Have the ability to conduct low level, speculative research or follow structured development processes as required.

  • Have working knowledge of engineering process and procedures.

  • Have the ability to estimate routine project tasks.

  • Have knowledge of Design to Cost, Design for Manufacture, Design for Test.
