Lead Engineer – Aerospace - EW (Electronic Warfare), RF, Radar Systems

 

Our client is a highly successful company, they are pioneering new technologies within Aerospace, Defence, Communications, Electronic Warfare, Radar, GPS Systems, Navigation Systems and Microwave and Antenna systems

 

Purpose of the Role:

Our client is looking for an Air Lead Engineer, to support the Head of Engineering Projects, Programme Manager and Systems Design Authority. You will be responsible for the for the engineering planning and execution activities within multiple high value, high risk and technically complex programmes.

 

Qualifications and Experience required for the role of Lead Engineer:

  • Strong communication and leadership skills, and experience of technically coordinating a multi-disciplinary engineering team
  • Ability to interface and effectively influence and negotiate with internal and external customers/stakeholders at all levels
  • Familiarity with the formal product development lifecycle (through requirements capture, to design, to verification and production) including leading design reviews
  • Understanding of the design and integration of complex electronic and RF systems up to 40GHz (including receive and high power transmit chains)
  • Experience working in the Aerospace Industry, and familiarity with safety analysis and airworthiness certification]
  • A recognised technology-based degree or equivalent, supported by sufficient engineering lifecycle experience
  • Comfortable reporting and presentation to all stakeholders both internal and external to the business

 

Key Responsibilities for the role of Lead Engineer:

  • Deliver development engineering planning and execution and work in partnership with the Systems Design Authority and sub-team leads
  • Lead creation of engineering planning at the system level and direct lower levels
  • Ensure governance structure is defined and maintained
  • Report progress to Programme Management and relevant stakeholders
  • Support and/or lead internal design reviews and customer meetings including document preparation
  • Working with the Programme Manager to define and manage project scope
  • Setting the culture of the development team as delivery focused, through strong work package management
  • Direct, motivate and provide leadership
  • Identify, specify and manage engineering resource
  • Maintain effective working relationships with Design Office, Production and Maintenance Organisation
  • Integrate project outputs turning capabilities into outcomes for stakeholders
  • Identifies potential problems / issues and works to resolve
  • Ensure effective lessons learned approaches are utilised
