Project Support / Project Control / Project Planners / PMO roles – MOD, Defence

 

Salary:  Negotiable with 25 days holiday, plus pension, life assurance & other benefits 

Location:  Corsham, Wiltshire / hybrid working, home, office and client sites across the Southwest. 

 

Our client is a successful management consultancy providing technical expertise to projects in the Ministry of Defence. They also have experience working in the nuclear, defence, space, and transport sectors in the UK. Our client is a member of several Government frameworks for the delivery of analysis and systems engineering and delivers innovative solutions as an agile organisation built on the expertise of experienced practitioners.

 

They are currently looking for experienced Project Support staff including Project Planners, Project Control and PMO  roles, you need to have an  MOD, defence background for these roles . 

 

Job Role

Working as a Project Support Officer means getting involved in a diverse range of activities to support the delivery of the project’s objectives. You will enable the smooth running of the project by supporting the project manager through different delivery processes, and coordinate business management actions and activities on their behalf.

 

Regular tasks will include:

  • Planning and scheduling – Implement and maintain appropriate systems to enable effective planning and scheduling.
  • Monitoring and reporting – Establish and maintain project controls, keeping the project manager aware of the project status. Prepare project performance reports, presenting statistics and researching new information.
  • Admin – Ensure organisational tasks are carried out efficiently. Manage and monitor compliance of the project with Departmental Security, Health & Safety, Equality & Diversity, Business Continuity and Business Planning.
  • Resources – Lead a team responsible for identifying, developing, and deploying resources. Manage workforce planning, providing information for effective decision making to the Project Manager. Procurement of supplies and services related to project support.
  • Stakeholder engagement – Manage professional relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, and act as lead point of contact for some external parties. Draft and sign-off correspondence.
  • Financial control – Monitor project spend and contribute to the compilation of budgets and the development of the business case. Ensure an accurate asset register is maintained.
  • Risks and Issues – Manage potential risk areas, working with risk managers and escalating as appropriate.

 

Person Specification

  • Experience in project management and project support within an MOD/Defence environment
  • It would be desirable if you had project management qualifications. Ideally you should hold either APM Project Fundamentals, APM Project Management Qualification or equivalent.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Good IT literacy, solid working knowledge of PowerPoint and MS Word
  • Very proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel
  • Familiar with Risk mitigation
  • Happy to travel to client sites across the Southwest

 

Additional Notes: 

Due to the security and information access restrictions, this role is only open to British Nationals.  Current SC or DV Clearance is also highly desirable.
