Systems Engineer – RF, Digital, Cellular, Wireless Systems


Our client is a highly successful global company, they are looking for a RF Systems Engineer.  This role will liaise with Sales and Production to ensure purchase orders are processed correctly from a Systems Engineering point of view. This includes not only viability from an RF perspective but a Mechanical and Cost-Effective perspective too. The position will be mainly office based and occasional pre-sales support will be required. From a design perspective there will be at time to time be some involvement in project specific passive combining.  


The UK Engineering team focuses mainly on patented DAS and digital repeater solutions.

The R&D team in the UK consist of circa 20 system architecture, hardware, software and firmware, and mechanical engineers and programmers developing the next generation DAS and digital repeaters including on–board train repeaters.


The engineering team provides engineering support to the outsourced production lines.

Technology includes:  RF, digital, software and mechanical design and development, cellular and public safety technologies, wireless system engineering, providing cellular and public safety standards and certification processes.    


As a RF Systems Engineer your skills and qualifications will ideally include: 

  • Practical experience in RF system design

  • Knowledge of Analogue and Digital wireless communication techniques

  • Knowledge of RF measurement equipment and techniques

  • Experience of Alarms, control and monitoring techniques and power supply systems

  • Experience in equipment packaging techniques

  • IT Networks & Protocols

  • iBwave RF propagation tool would be useful but not essential


Skill Set / Qualifications

  • HNC in Electrical Engineering with practical experience or equivalent.

  • Hands on experience of general and RF Specific lab equipment (Network / Spectrum Analyzer, RF Signal Generator)

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment

  • Interpersonal skills and ability to interact and work with staff at all levels

  • Confidence to work independently

  • Willingness to travel overseas when required 


As a Systems Engineer your main responsibilities will involve:

  • Ratify new orders received from the sales/pre-sales team are clean, workable, commercially achievable and maximise the use of standard product portfolio.

  • Produce schematics using Visio and calculations for RF system design

  • Produce Bills of Materials for manufacturing on the central IFS system

  • Operate to the systems client sign off and production release process.

  • Produce detailed level circuit schematics and testing documentation for RF system design for the production build team prior to start of the build

  • Communicate and operate our Standard FAT process with clients
