Working as an HR assistant is a great way to learn many different aspects of human resources management.

That includes recruitment, employee relations, payroll, benefits administration, and much more. It’s therefore ideal for providing a solid foundation if you wish to pursue a career in HR. As an assistant, you will gain plenty of hands-on experience in many tasks and interact with employees at all levels of an organisation.

If you’re keen to work in the field of human resources, Gregory Martin’s latest roles include those for a HR Assistant for a world-leading software house.

Based in Knutsford, Cheshire, the company specialises in developing and testing web security and cyber security software. The role is ideal for someone who’s recently finished or is about to complete their master’s or PhD degree in a people-related course.

Day-to-date duties will include reviewing and providing suggestions on potential improvements, such as feedback, onboarding and recruitment.

You will also be running culture focus groups and surveys. These need to be carefully structured to give our client a richer understanding of their culture and how it is evolving by conducting statistical analysis.

The HR Assistant will also be supporting recruitment processes, such as following up with candidates, psychometric testing, interviewing, and onboarding new joiners.

You will need an evidence-based approach to test for aptitude, personality and behavioural attributes that help employees thrive in a collaborative culture. You will also need to identify how these could be incorporated into the company’s recruitment process.

This role involves being a central point of contact for people-related questions and signposting to suitable resources. You will need to support the well-being of all employees by providing a friendly face and empathetic ear.

Essential skills include first-class communication and problem solving, analytical and organisational skills. This in-house role pays a competitive salary of £30,000 to £60,000.
