Recruitment activity has picked up again in June, with vacancy growth hitting a record high, making it a surprisingly good time for job seekers.
The relaxing of lockdown measures has released a pent-up demand for business services. In fact, many businesses are reporting difficulties recruiting the staff they need, with staff shortages leading to problems fulfilling orders. This means there’s been a power shift to the job seeker.
Described as ‘buoyant’, the UK job market enjoyed over 200,000 new vacancies last week, according to the REC.

The client is looking for a positive and enthusiastic Senior Consultant who has a passion for helping clients succeed. The right candidate should come from a management consultancy background, and be used to advising and working with clients in the UK Defence sector.
You should also have solid experience consulting with clients enabling them to undertake strategic decision making and implement business transformational change into their organisation.
They are also looking for a Technical Consultant in Basingstoke, Hampshire, which is a hands-on role.
This position will involve managing the implementation of the company’s software products and applications for both pilot and fully commissioned ‘go lives’.
The right candidate must have experience working in IT project management or consultancy. You should also have a keen eye for detail and be adept at understanding and documenting a customer’s technical requirements.
This role requires you to travel to customer sites, to capture requirements, provide training and support the go-live process.
