January to March is peak hiring season, with more companies likely to connect with both active and passive candidates during this time. However, thanks to economic uncertainty, different sectors are currently tending to hire using two approaches: some are cautiously pulling back while others continue to invest, compete and hire for critical skills.
One sector which is thriving in the UK is the aerospace industry, which has recently received a £43 million green investment from the Government.
Gregory Martin has several new roles located on the Essex/Kent border, including an opportunity for a skilled Aerospace Quality Inspector.
The right candidate will have experience in aerospace quality inspections and standards.
You will be working within a small team of 1 QM and 1 other QI. The ideal candidate will also need to have solid measurement skills, calibration knowledge, use of CMM Light Machine and awareness of the AS 9100 standards.
Also desired is experience in completion of FAIR and in-house drawings for top candidates. This role pays a salary of up to 35k.
They are also seeking a Skilled Centreless Grinder.
You must be able to set and run centreless grinders, with experience running Wickman Scrivener, Ghiringhelli Grinder, Cincinnati or Tschadun Grinder.
You will be working within their 2nd Ops and will largely work on grinding, with some other work on lathes, drilling when required. The right candidate will have experience and understanding of aerospace standards and solid ability to read micrometre and measuring equipment. This role pays a salary of up to 35k.
Another role currently available is for a Production Manager.
The right candidate will be experienced in shop floor management and able to motivate and train their shop floor team. They’re seeking an experienced aerospace engineer who has set and run machinery including:
- Sliding and fixed head CNCs machines, with Fanuc controls
- Lathes
- Drilling/tapping.
The salary is up to 45k depending on experience.
Last but not least, they need a CNC Setter Operator.
You must have experience in setting and operating CNC fixed and sliding head machines within the aerospace sector, with bar feeders (ideally SRA/SRB machines and/or Doosan, Hardinge, Mori & Star. The salary is up to £30k, or if fully skilled up to £35k.
